About
Provides a point of entry for all adult mental health and substance use services for the Island Health region. Services are provided in a variety of settings including community clinics, hospitals, specialized settings, and on an outreach basis. Services include confidential intake assessment, help with connecting to services such as counselling, short-term assessment and treatment, withdrawal management, and harm reduction services, and referrals to other community services. Some locations offer same-day intake assessment by walk-in or phone-in appointments.

180 Degrees Detox and Stabilization
1455 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC
Offered by The John Howard Society of North Island. Provides inpatient detox services in a comfortable home-like setting for youth to withdraw from harmful substances. Program counsellors work with youth to set their own goals of what they want to work on while in the program such as education, harm reduction, and relapse prevention. After detox, youth may then access a stabilization bed in a family care home to begin rebuilding their lives. Average length of stay in detox is four to seven days, and the stabilization period may last up to six months.

Services include information and education, parent support, and referrals to treatment services or other community programs.
