Privacy Policy

1. Overview

FindTreatment.ca is an informational directory. We designed it to require as little personal information as possible: there are no user accounts, and you can browse every page without providing any personal details. This policy explains what limited data is processed when you use the Site, in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. A Note on Sensitive Topics

We know that browsing an addiction-treatment directory is itself sensitive. We do not ask you to tell us anything about your health, and we do not build profiles of visitors. If you contact a treatment centre listed on the Site (by phone, their website, or email), that communication happens directly between you and the centre — it does not pass through us and we have no record of it.

3. Information We Process Automatically

Our hosting and content-delivery infrastructure (servers hosted in Canada, with Cloudflare edge locations worldwide) automatically processes standard technical data to serve pages: IP address, browser type, requested URL, and timestamp. This data is used for security, caching, and aggregate performance monitoring, and is retained only in short-lived infrastructure logs.

4. Cookies & Advertising

The Site itself does not set tracking cookies. If advertising (such as Google AdSense) is displayed, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on prior visits to other websites. You can control personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings and learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Given the sensitive nature of this Site, we configure advertising to avoid personalization categories wherever the ad platform allows.

5. Affiliate Links

Some outbound links are affiliate links (for example, to online-therapy providers). Clicking one shares no personal information from us — the destination site may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. Any information you then provide to that service is governed by its privacy policy, not ours.

6. Information You Send Us

If you email us (for example, to claim a listing or ask a question), we receive your email address and message. We use it only to respond and to action your request, and we do not add you to marketing lists or share your details with third parties except as required to fulfil your request or by law.

7. Listing Data About Facilities

The directory contains business contact information about treatment facilities compiled from public sources, government open-data programs (attributed on the relevant pages), and facility submissions. This is business information, not personal information. Facility representatives can request corrections or removal at [email protected].

8. Data Sharing & International Transfers

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Technical data is processed by our infrastructure providers (Amazon Web Services; Cloudflare for DNS) under their respective safeguards, and some processing may occur outside Canada (for example, at CDN edge locations in the United States).

9. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Because we hold almost none, such requests are usually simple — email us and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Changes & Contact

We may update this policy; the date above reflects the current version. Questions: [email protected]. See also our Terms of Use.
