Alcoholics Anonymous

I came into Alcoholics Anonymous a broken man, alcohol dependent in the late 70s & early 80s. It took some time for me to sort things out but through AA I learned how to live alcohol free one day at a time. Being able to live just for today, has opened me to the wonders of love and trust, for which I am eternally grateful.

Alcaholics Anonymous saved My life basically. I had an intervention at My work and was told that unless I did something about My drinking I wouldn't have another shift ever. This was good because it made Me take it seriously. Almost 7 years later I am still employed and life is great!

I was ready to end it all. I had hurt every single person in my life and I was afraid to look life in the eye. I drank uncontrollably to ease the anxiety, but it took me even deeper into the dungeons of my mind. AA gave me a path out. People say it is a cult, but those people were never on the verge of death. It is the most profound spiritual program I have ever encountered in my 35 years of soul searching--and I am not an alcoholic. I go to the meetings because the shares move me to go deeper on my journey and doing the steps (I am on the 4th step) has had a huge effect in my daily living. I recommend EVERYONE should go check it out.

Just a thought but covid and recovery are enemies. The big book doesn't reflect on mental health and in my opinion, mental health or lack thereof is the root causation of alcoholism. Hereditary passing of the alcoholic torch is more than a possibility but regrets,guilt, shame and remorse for past deeds under the influence drive us psychologically to madness and the urge to consume, mostly to forget for a while.Thats why most of us drink the next day...and the day after that.I'm describing myse
